Dr. Munir Khalid-Abasi is a practicing physician with over 40 years of combined experience in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, and Occupational Medicine. He began his career in Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine approximately 20 years ago with Lake After Hours/Convenient Care and is currently the Medical Director of Occupational Health for Premier Health. Upon graduation from California State University at Sonoma, he attended medical school at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. After completing his residency program at Dallas Fort Worth Medical Center, he began his medical practice here in Louisiana as a staff member with Tulane’s Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Khalid-Abasi also worked as an emergency medicine physician at LSU Health Sciences Center/Lallie Kemp Regional Medical Center while also serving as Emergency Medicine Director and the hospital’s Chief of Staff. He later worked as an emergency medicine physician and faculty member for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Earl K. Long Hospital prior to becoming an urgent care physician with Lake After Hours/Convenient Care. Dr. Khalid-Abasi is board certified with the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine, and he is a native of Youngstown, Ohio.
